Quick note about something you’ll notice on the newsletter this week.
I’ve turned on payments.
Before you raise an eyebrow: nothing gets locked. Every post stays free, exactly the way it’s always been. You won’t hit a paywall here, and you won’t get the “subscribe to keep reading” cutoff halfway through a piece.
Substack now lets any of you who want to support the work do that. Think of it as a tip jar by the door, not a toll booth. If these essays help you think through your own work and career and you’d like to chip in, there’s a button for that now. If you’d rather read along for free, that’s genuinely fine. It’s what most people will do, and I built it that way on purpose.
A couple of you expressed interest in supporting this work before I’d even set it up. That’s what nudged me to do it. Thank you.
I keep it free on purpose. This newsletter is where I get to think out loud with people moving through the same shifts in work that I am, and sometimes it’s where we start working together more directly. What I care about is the conversation. The money is beside the point.
